I decided to take a manicure course with Karina, and that decision completely changed the way I see this profession.
I was slightly panicked on the morning of my first day. But Karina immediately created an atmosphere where nobody was afraid to make mistakes.
We started with theory: nail anatomy, disinfection and sterilisation.
Then we moved on to practice on nail tips. My first lines and product placement looked rather funny, but Karina came to each of us, gently guided our hands and showed the correct angle for the e-file bit or brush.
The most exciting and nerve-racking part came when our first real models arrived. Karina stood beside every learner. With her attentive guidance, the nerves slowly disappeared.
We learned combined manicure, base coat levelling and how to apply a coating close to the cuticle.
The final training day flew by. Karina did more than hand me a certificate — she gave me confidence that nail work is a craft with endless room to grow.
I am now welcoming my first clients at a salon, remembering every piece of Karina's advice: do not rush, keep your work clean and respect the client's time.
